Apparently reading a novel can cause positive changes in the brain that maintain for up to 5 days.

Theory of Mind

MRI scans showed that different areas in the brain are involved when reading. What became clear is the so-called ‘Theory of Mind’. This is the ability to attribute mental states—beliefs, intents, desires, pretending, knowledge, etc.—to oneself and others and to understand that others have beliefs, desires, intentions, and perspectives that are different from one’s own. A positive influence to increase your cognitive development.
