about you

“No, not again! Every time this silly stuff, it seems it never changes!”

Last summer I moved office. I had still one box left to be opened. When I finally did that this morning a little leaflet whirled out of the box with the text: Miracle Question. I had completely forgotten I had it and also completely forgotten that it can help solving things you don’t want any more, stuff that bothers you or that you want differently.

What would you want to stop? What really bothers you? What would you like to change?

The Miracle Question will help you to solve the problem.

How? Take a pen and paper and jot down what really bothers you, what you would like to stop and what would you like to change.

Written it all down?

OK, now imagine, you are going home later and you are going to do what you normally do.

Tonight you will go to bed and fall asleep.

And while you are sleeping, a miracle will happen.

The miracle is that your problem is completely solved.

Because you were asleep you didn’t notice the miracle happening.

Now write down the answers to the following questions:

  • What will make you notice that the miracle had actually happened?
  • What would be the first sign of the miracle?
  • What would you DO differently?
  • What else would you DO differently?
  • Who would be the first to notice that you are doing things differently?
  • What would they notice about you?
  • Once they are aware of you being different, how would they react?
  • What would then be your answer?
  • How would you react?
  • What more would they notice about you? Etc…..

Or in case the miracle happened with another person.

  • If the other person has changed, what are you doing differently?
  • What could you do to change the behaviour of the other person? Think about as many options as possible.

Or in case the miracle had an effect on how things have changed or your behaviour has changed.

Imagine you are more happy….

  • What are you doing differently?
  • What would other people notice about you?

Imagine you think more positively….

  • What would you do differently?
  • What would other people notice about you?

Dirk van der Wulp has created this Miracle Question. According to him it will even work better if you do it together with another person. You talk, the other person asks the questions. And if you want even more effect, try a third person who can observe everything and reflect on your answers.

Miracles do exist, as long as you change your way of thinking!
